Dacia Reigns Supreme with More Award Wins
With an impressive number of awards under their belt, they recently picked up a further four accolades.
- Dacia was named ‘Best Value Brand’ at the 2024 AutoTrader New Car Awards.
- The Sandero was also crowned ‘Best Small Car for Value’.
- While the Jogger won ‘Best Seven-Seater for Value’.
Dacia is a brand renowned for offering affordable and reliable cars. In recent years, they’ve racked up an impressive number of awards. To further add to their success, the manufacturer added three new awards to their trophy cabinet earlier this year.
2024 What Car? Car of the Year Awards
Each year the What Car? Car of the Year Awards celebrates the best new cars available on the market. Dacia claimed a double victory, picking up two awards for the Sandero and Jogger.
Recognised for the 11th year in a row, the Dacia Sandero was crowned ‘Best Small Car for Value’. This is the third consecutive year that the compact car has won the award.
Judges praised the Sandero for its efficiency, practicality, and a high level of specification for an affordable price.
Steve Hungtingford, Editor of What Car?, said on the win: “There’s more interior space than in most rivals, while fuel economy is good, and it can run on LPG, which is much cheaper than petrol. The Sandero is also decent to drive and – in our preferred trim – pretty well equipped.”
The Dacia Jogger also held onto the title of ‘Best Seven-Seater for Value’ for a second successive year.
It was commended by judges for offering space, usability, and equipment.
Steve added: “There’s a lot more to like than just its price. It's a very easy car to drive, and has plenty of space for adults in all three rows. Plus, our recommended Expression trim comes with all of the convenience features you're likely to want, including keyless entry, cruise control and rear parking sensors.”
Auto Trader New Car Awards
As well as picking up awards for the Sandero and Jogger, Dacia was named ‘Best Value Brand’ at the Auto Trader New Car Awards.
This is the sixth time Dacia has clinched the title, after previously winning the award in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023.
The Sandero Stepway was also named ‘Best Value Car’. With prices starting from just £15,295 OTR, it’s one of the most affordable new cars on the market.
Both award wins were judged on real-world feedback from 200,000 new car owners across the UK. Owners were asked to rate cars across 16 categories including:
- Reliability
- Performance
- Appearance
- Running costs
Erin Baker, Auto Trader Editorial Director, said on the awards: “The Dacia Sandero Stepway continues to appeal to those looking for value in their new car. This is our favourite car on a budget, and this is the second year running that Dacia has taken away this award. The Sandero Stepway offers excellent value for money and generous levels of kit for the price. As owners highlighted it’s “Cheap to buy but loaded with bits such as climate control and heated seats”.
Baker added: “Dacia also remains top of the tree when it comes to value with no other manufacturer matching the value that Dacia currently offers. Dacia drivers felt overwhelmingly that their car offered the best “bang for buck” on the market with one owner commenting that “I’m on my third Dacia, all have been reliable, cheap to run and insure, together with being fun to drive”.”
