Hearts Come From Behind In Dramatic Final Game

Hearts enjoyed a fine end to a fine season in the Scottish Premiership season with a home draw against Rangers – secured with the final kick of the campaign.

With the home side having already confirmed third place, and with Rangers unable to catch Celtic in the title race, there was nothing to play for but pride going into the last league game of the year, although Hearts were bidding to end a run of five successive losses against their Glasgow rivals.

Hearts grabbed the lead in the first half when Lawrence Shankland raced onto a through ball before dinking a shot over Jack Butland and into the net.

Rangers equalised shortly into the second half thanks to a fine shot from Ross McCausland from outside the box, with the visitors then hitting the front when Todd Cantwell’s shot beat Zander Clark via the post.

It looked like the winless run was going to go on for Hearts when Rangers added a third with little over ten minutes left to play, with Fbio Silva pouncing on a hesitant Dexter Lembikisa to steal the ball and fire it home.

Lembikisa made amends for that shortly afterwards, when he fired in a first time volley at the back post following good work down the left from Kenneth Vargas, with the equaliser coming deep in stoppage time.

Clark went long with a clearance from the edge of the box and when Frankie Kent headed it on, Kyosuke Tagawa struck a sweet volley that arrowed beyond Butland and into the net to secure a 3-3 draw.

Hearts can now head into the summer for a well-earned break and look ahead to European football next season.
