Hearts Extend Unbeaten Run With Aberdeen Success
Heart of Midlothian made it eight games without defeat with victory against Aberdeen in the latest round of fixtures in the Scottish Premiership.
The Jambos had battled back from 2-0 down to secure a dramatic victory in the previous game against Dundee, and were seeking revenge on the Dons having slipped to defeat at Pittodrie in early December.
Aberdeen thought they had grabbed the lead this time around when Bojan Miovksi curled a fine strike beyond Zander Clark but the goal was ruled out for a foul on Beni Baningime after a VAR check.
A further VAR check after the break resulted in Hearts being given the chance to take the lead from the spot after a handball from Nicky Devlin, with Jorge Grant stepping up to take the kick in place of Lawrence Shankland – who had missed three in a row.
Grant made no mistake as he smashed the ball into the top corner for his first league goal of the season and Shankland then wrapped things up with 13 minutes to go.
Picking up a loose ball on the edge of the box, he curled in an effort with the outside of his boot to move onto 19 goals for the season and maintain his recent run of form.
That wrapped up the points for Steven Naismith’s side, who are now ten points clear of Kilmarnock in the table.
Next up is a trip to Dens Park for a return fixture with Dundee.
