Hearts Grab Stunning Celtic Win
Heart of Midlothian secured a first away league win against Celtic for more than a decade with a stunning performance in the latest round of fixtures in the Scottish Premiership.
After back-to-back defeats against Rangers and Aberdeen, Hearts made the trip to Parkhead eager to avoid making it three losses in a row – but at a ground where it hadn’t taken victory in the league since 2009.
The defending champions were looking to maintain the form shown in a fine Champions League win in the week, with Zander Clark forced into an early save before Lawrence Shankland rose highest at the other end to nod Hearts into the lead.
If that was a positive start, things got even better after half an hour when Nathaniel Atkinson was fouled just outside the box and Stephen Kingsley curled in a stunning second from the free-kick.
Celtic created chances but despite having nearly 80 per cent of possession and four times as many shots, were unable to break down a stubborn Hearts defence as Steven Naismith and his side headed back to Edinburgh having moved up to third in the standings.
