Hearts Win Again After Another Comeback
Macklin Motors-backed side Hearts continued a rich vein of form in the Scottish Premiership after another impressive comeback victory against Dundee.
The Edinburgh side went into the game keen to avoid a repeat of the home game against the same opponents last month, which had seen the Jambos forced to battle back from 2-0 down to secure a dramatic 3-2 victory.
Once again it was Dundee who hit the front when a fine header from Jordan McGhee after 25 minutes beat Zander Clark in the Hearts goal – giving the home side the lead at half-time.
Hearts equalised after the break when Lawrence Shankland burst into the Dundee box and teed up Alan Forrest to equalise, but they would be level for just four minutes after a fine team move ended with Lyall Cameron smashing in a second goal from the edge of the box.
Dundee had chances to move further clear but would be forced to pay for missed opportunities when a shot from Shankland hit the hand of Lee Ashcroft to give Hearts a penalty.
Shankland himself stepped up to take the kick and having missed three in a row, made no mistake despite Trevor Carson managing to get a hand to the ball.
That goal came with little over ten minutes to go and with the clock ticking down to full-time, Heart’s talisman wrapped up all three points when he collected a pass from Kenneth Vargas, beat his man on the edge of the box and drove in the winner.
That allowed Shankland to maintain his scoring run and means Hearts are now twelve points clear of Kilmarnock in third spot going into a mid-week trip to St Johnstone.
