Hyundai Reveal Design for All-New IONIQ 6 Electric Car
The manufacturer has unveiled the design for their all new IONIQ 6 Electrified Streamliner, featuring a unique ‘mindful’ design concept.
Hyundai have revealed the official design for their new IONIQ 6, the company’s second all-electric model in their newest line-up.
According to the manufacturer, the IONIQ 6 is an electrified streamliner, and features an aerodynamic, sculpted profile giving it a ‘cocooning’ interior effect.
Elegant Exterior
The new model features a sleek, elegant profile with the help of subtle curves and contours, creating a vehicle with sophistication and beauty at the centre.
Following the company’s Prophecy EV Concept, the IONIQ 6 utilities clean, simple lines and enhanced aerodynamics to create what Hyundai designers call ‘Emotional Efficiency’.
It features an ultra-low drag coefficient of just 0.21, aided by features such as its low nose, active frontal air flaps, wheel gap reducers and optional slim digital side mirrors.
The rear sees a wing-inspired spoiler with winglet, slight boat-tail structure, and separation traps on either side of the bumper, all adding to the unique aerodynamics which make this electric vehicle smoothly satisfying as well as eye-catching.
Offering the best in lighting, the IONIQ 6 also comprises over 700 Parametric Pixels throughout its design, located in the headlamps, rear combination lamps, front lower sensors, air vent garnishes and centre console indicator, a staple feature of the IONIQ brand.
Featuring the company’s newly designed Hyundai badge, the IONIQ 6 demonstrates the company’s vision for modern motoring, as a fully electric streamliner featuring all the latest technology to create an impressive, innovative vehicle.
Impactful Interior
Inside the vehicle, the sleek, aerodynamic design creates a ‘cocooning’ interior space which envelops driver and passengers to provide a comfortable and more personal space. This is aided by the company’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), enabling designers to stretch the interior in both the front and rear to create a more spacious feeling with improved leg room.
Among the IONIQ 6’s impressive technological make-up is an ergonomically designed control unit, featuring a modular touchscreen dashboard with a 12-inch full-touch infotainment display and 12-inch digital cluster.
All this is joined by Dual Colour Ambient Lighting which provides the main illumination inside the vehicle. With a spectrum of 64 colours and six dual colour themes to choose from, users can customise their driving experience for optimum ambience and relaxation, with the 4-dot Interactive Pixel Lights on the steering wheel enabling easy access.
Not only does the IONIQ 6 feature a sleek profile and mood-boosting interior, but it also utilises eco-friendly materials in an Ethical Uniqueness theme to deliver on sustainability.
This includes the use of recycled pigment paint from end-of-life tires to the cladding and bamboo charcoal pigment body paint on the outside, as well as various materials inside- from eco-process leather and recycled PET fabric in the seats, to a bio TPO skin on the dashboard, and a recycled fishing net carpet.
SangYup Lee, Executive Vice president and Head of Hyundai Design Centre, said:
“IONIQ 6 connects an emotional convergence of functionality with aesthetics. The distinctive streamlined design is the result of close cooperation between engineers and designers, with obsessive attention to detail and customer-centric values at the core. We have created the IONIQ 6 as a mindful cocoon that offers personalised place for all.”
3D World Premiere
With the IONIQ 6’s launch comes the need for a memorable premiere, as the model takes to the market in July 2022.
Alongside the reveal of the all-new design, Hyundai have also released an immersive 3D digital film to showcase their latest model, to be displayed at K-POP Square (Seoul), Piccadilly Circus (London), and the Big Kahuna (New York)- three of the world’s most prominent billboard sites.
