Kia EV6 Wins Car of the Year at 2022 What Car Awards
The Kia EV6 has taken the top prize at the prestigious What Car Awards 2022, being named ‘Car of the Year’. It also took the title of ‘Electric SUV of the Year’ – a huge success for Kia’s first dedicated electric car.
It’s only the second all-electric vehicle to ever claim the overall Car of the Year title – the first being the Kia e-Niro in 2019.
The judging panel at the awards commended the Kia EV6 for its excellent real-world range and ability to charge at unrivalled speeds – which addresses two major concerns that people still hold around owning an electric vehicle.
The Kia EV6 looks and feels like the future, with its eye-catching design, spacious interior, connected infotainment system and intelligent safety features.
Paul Philpott, President and CEO of Kia UK Limited, commented: “It’s a great honour for Kia to win ‘Car of the Year’ at this year’s What Car? Awards, particularly given the high regard with which they are held by customers across the UK.”
“The EV6 is a truly exceptional car and it’s just the beginning of things to come from Kia on our rapid journey to electrification. This is tangible recognition that Kia is fast becoming a true leader in electric vehicles having also won this award with e-Niro in 2019.”
The EV6 is available with a 77.4kWh battery across a range of three model grades – ‘Air’, ‘GT-Line’ and ‘GT-Line S’. Prices start from £40,945 (OTR), and it offers a range of up to 328 miles from a single charge.
