Macklin Motors Supports Scotland As Summer Tour Begins
Macklin Motors showed its support for Scotland’s national rugby union team as it kicked off a four-match tour of the Americas.
Gregor Townsend and his team headed across the Atlantic for games against Canada, the United States, Chile and Uruguay, with the first game against the Canadian side being held at the TD Place Stadium in the capital city, Ottawa.
With pitchside support from Macklin Motors and its Sell My Car programme, Scotland started the game slowly against the home side but a young side – which would feature appearances from no fewer than ten debutants – soon got into its stride and roared back.
In total, the Scots ran in eleven tries that included two apiece for Arron Reed, Dylan Richardson and Gus Warr – with Reed and Warr amongst those appearing for the national side for the first time.
Josh Bayliss, Harry Paterson, Jamie Dobie, Stafford McDowall and Kyle Steyn all crossed the line to score in the match – which aired live on TNT Sports – with Ross Thompson and Ben Healey sharing nine conversions.
A 73-12 victory marked a strong start to the tour with the next game against the USA on Friday seeing Townsend change the entire line-up of the team in the bid to make it two wins from two.
