Best EV Under £35k
The Mazda MX-30 is the manufacturer’s first battery-electric production car, and this title is a testament to its versatility. The stylish crossover has an AC synchronous electric motor and a 35.5kWh lithium-ion battery that delivers a range of up to 124 miles.
Three generously equipped model grades are available; SE-L Lux, Sport Lux and GT Sport Tech – all of which come in under £35,000. LED headlights with daytime running lights, reversing camera, Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Intelligent Speed Assist, and navigation and head-up display all come as standard. Plus, the Type 2 AC charging cable and socket for DC rapid charging can deliver up to 80% charge in just 36 minutes.
The interior of the MX-30 is a truly stylish space, that is made of high-quality, sustainable materials including cork leftover from the production of bottle stoppers, and door trim materials that incorporate fibres from recycled plastic bottles.
Jack McKeown, President of the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW) said:
“Mazda’s MX-30 is not only among the most stylish electric cars, but also one of the most fun to drive. It weighs less than its rivals, which contributes to class-leading handling. A superb interior and extremely competitive price tag are the final ingredients in a hugely impressive package. If electric cars are the future, I hope more of them are like the Mazda MX-30.”
Used Car of the Year
The Mazda CX-5 has been praised, year on year since its introduction in 2012, for its performance, standard equipment and high-quality interior, and it features regularly in Auto Trader’s top ten fastest-selling used cars. Available in a choice of petrol or diesel engines with automatic or manual, transmission, plus the option of front or all-wheel drive, consumers can select their ideal configuration at ease.
Additionally, for those buying a Mazda CX-5 through the Mazda Approved Used Car Scheme, peace of mind comes included. All vehicles undergo a thorough multi-point inspection and independent mileage check, plus consumers can expect a package of benefits including a one-year unlimited mileage warranty, one-year roadside assistance and MOT protection.
Commenting on the Mazda CX-5, Jack McKeown, ASMW President said:
“Used car buyers have higher expectations than ever and don’t expect to sacrifice quality just because their vehicle has a few miles on the clock. With the Mazda CX-5 they don’t have to. It’s a spacious and stylish SUV that beats its rivals when it comes to practicality and refinement. Strong engines, a premium interior and Mazda’s legendary reliability are among the many other reasons our members voted for the CX-5 as their Used Car of the Year.”
