Motability's Indoor Activities to Enjoy This Winter
As winter closes in, the nights start earlier. We naturally spend more time indoors and less time driving our Motability cars. But don’t let staying inside put you off getting creative!
We’ve put together a selection of creative activities you can have a go at. Or maybe inspire you to create an activity all of your own.
Baking, cooking and decorating
Turn your kitchen into a hub of activity and create some tasty memories in the process. From gingerbread houses to homemade pizza, winter calls for warm delicious treats.
Get the whole family involved in creating the perfect pizza toppings for your main meal, or perhaps a warming soup with crusty bread. Follow up with satisfying your sweet tooth and crack out a favourite cookie or gingerbread recipe. Decorate your goodies in any theme you like.
Trying new recipes or baking family favourites are a great way to engage as a family – while also warming up in the cold months too!
Movie marathon or cozy reading nooks
What better way to enjoy the coziness of your house than curled up with a good book or film for all? Embrace the season by setting up a cozy spot with blankets and pillows for everyone to snuggle in and read or watch with you.
Whether it's a family movie marathon or quiet time with a book, creating a cozy area helps everyone unwind.
You can even combine this activity with your baking, cooking and decorating. By choosing a film or book as the decorating theme!
Indoor scavenger hunt
If you prefer to be more active, set up an indoor scavenger hunt to get everyone’s heads thinking.
Hide clues or small prizes around the house for your family to find or ask someone else to do it for you. This turns a simple day indoors into a fun adventure.
You can tailor the hunt to specific themes like winter, Christmas, or something completely unique!
Winter puzzle corner
Start a large winter-themed puzzle on a table for everyone to work on over time. Winter scenes or Christmas designs add to the seasonal feel.
You get bonus points for decorating your winter puzzle corner, for full immersion in the project!
Plus, the puzzle can be a fun, noisy group activity, or a wind-down project.
Nature shadow art
As the days draw in and leaves are falling off the trees, it’s a great time to make the most of these resources for a crafty project!
First, attach paper to a wall, large craft paper ideally. Set up a light source (like a torch) to cast shadows on the wall and place winter-themed object in front. Perhaps pinecones, acorns, branches, leaves etc.
Then trace the shadows to create a beautiful winter scene on paper! Get as creative as you like, adding creatures and colouring in.
