New Nissan Qashqai Wins Auto Express Road Test Against Kia Sportage

Nissan’s award-winning SUV was commended for its value for money and new powertrain.

The Nissan Qashqai has been on our roads for over two decades and continues to be one of Nissan’s best-selling cars.

Earlier this year, the New Nissan Qashqai was unveiled and it’s already making an impression.

Auto Express recently conducted a road test against the Kia Sportage and the Nissan Qashqai came out on top.

Auto Express Road Test

Leading motoring magazine Auto Express regularly puts cars through their paces in their road tests. In-house experts compare a range of factors including technology, performance, ownership, and practicality.

As well as conducting road tests to help readers find their next car, they also publish used car reviews, group tests, and video reviews.

New Nissan Qashqai

The fourth-generation Nissan Qashqai is now more efficient than ever. Using Nissan’s innovative e-POWER technology, it combines a petrol engine with a 2.1kWh electric battery. As well as a 187bhp electric motor, with the engine playing the role of a generator.

This allows the hybrid SUV to be driven small distances using full electric power, without the need to plug in and charge. But with the added reassurance of a petrol engine for longer journeys.

As well as being efficient, Auto Express praised the New Qashqai for its safety, upgraded interior, and minimal road noise at high speeds.

Safety enhancements include an improved 360-degree parking camera monitoring system. This includes an on-screen digital representation of the car. A new setting also allows drivers to ‘see through’ the bonnet on screen to more easily avoid obstacles and kerbs.

While a new N-Design trim introduces a panoramic sunroof to bring more light into the interior.

All of this, along with the New Nissan Qashqai’s starting price of £39,620 is one of the key reasons why the model is so highly regarded by Auto Express.

Auto Express Driver Power Survey

Each year, Auto Express conducts their annual Driver Power customer satisfaction survey. In this year’s survey, Nissan was ranked in 15th place out of the 32 manufacturers included.

In 2023, Nissan finished in 19th place and this year’s improvement shows that Nissan continues to be a firm favourite amongst drivers.
