Peugeot E-408 Completes the Peugeot EV Range
The new fastback SUV follows the plug-in hybrid model released in 2022 and offers a luxurious design and powerful performance.
Peugeot’s 408 model has been joined by an all-electric version, the Peugeot E-408. The new model completes the brand’s EV line-up, and is packed with features for an enhanced, efficient drive.
Read on for everything you need to know about the electric vehicle (EV).
Alluring design
The new Peugeot E-408 presents an ultra-modern design with its fastback silhouette and dynamic features.
It sits confidently at 4.69 metres long and 1.85 metres wide, with its generous proportions allowing the battery to be fitted under the floor. This creates a more spacious interior while lowering the centre of gravity for improved handling.
With sharp lines, rear ‘cat’s ears’ and contoured wings, the Peugeot E-408 gains a feline character that’s sure to be noticed. Large 19” alloy wheels contribute both sporty style and lower rolling resistance, paired with 225-50 R19 tyres.
Other features include the body-coloured grille, fang-shaped lighting signature, and three-claw LED lights. All staples of Peugeot’s alluring design language.
The new Peugeot E-408 will be available in five stylish colour options to suit your tastes. These include Okenite White, Obsession Blue, Selenium Grey, Elixir Red, and Nera Black.
Welcoming interior
Inside, the Peugeot E-408 is all about comfort and luxury. Every element has been crafted to give a premium feel, from ambient LED lighting to fabric or Alcantara upholsteries.
With a FOCAL Premium Hi-Fi sound system, 10 speakers provide an immersive acoustic experience.
The front seats are AGR-certified, meaning they are ergonomic and approved by back health experts. A 10-way adjustment system with two memory settings ensures optimal comfort for the driver. The passenger seat features a six-way adjustment along with a built-in massage and heating system.
In the middle, a centre console extends to the cabin with a dedicated wireless charging space. There are also two USB-C ports for charging devices, along with a cup holder and up to 33 litres of storage.
At the rear, a two-part 60/40 split bench seats rear passengers, which when folded, expands the 471-litre boot to 1,545 litres. This allows you to store an object up to 1.89 metres long – handy if you ever need to use it. The boot also features a 12V socket, LED lighting, and storage accessories to help secure luggage.
Connectivity is seamless with the Peugeot i-Cockpit. A 10” touchscreen houses all your essential controls and functions, including TomTom-connected navigation. With Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, you can connect your smartphone.
The navigation system includes a trip planner to make sure you always take the most efficient route, conserving range. You can also view your nearest charging points, ideal for when you need a quick boost.
What’s more, the ‘OK PEUGEOT’ voice recognition system allows you to perform commands hands-free on the go. The system uses generative AI and ChatGPT to assist with many features, from navigation to entertainment en-route.
Emotive performance
As a 100% electric vehicle, the Peugeot E-408 offers a smooth, responsive driving experience. Equipped with a 58.2kWh battery, it offers up to 281 miles (WLTP) range, with several levels of regenerative braking. These help to fine-tune performance and include:
- Low – performs similarly to a conventional vehicle.
- Moderate – provides increased deceleration when lifting off the accelerator.
- Increased – offers maximum deceleration when releasing the accelerator, to maximise regeneration.
Three driving modes help personalise each drive, including Normal, Sport and Eco mode. As standard, the Peugeot E-408 also features a heat pump to help optimise comfort in the cabin without reducing range.
As for charging, the new Peugeot E-408 can be charged from 20-80% in just over 30 minutes using a rapid DC charger. It can also regain up to 62 miles of range in just over 10 minutes using this method, for quick top-ups on longer journeys.
Packed with driver assistance features, the Peugeot E-408 ensures a safer, smoother drive. These assist with everything from parking and manoeuvring to positioning, and include:
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Automatic Emergency Braking with Collision Risk Alert
- Active Lane Departure Warning with Trajectory Correction
- Driver Attention Alert
- Extended Traffic Sign Recognition and Display
- Long-Range Blind Spot Monitoring
- Rear Traffic Alert
