The new Renault 4 E-Tech is here

Announced under the name of a Renault icon, the Renault 4 E-Tech 100% electric has a lot to live up to. And a first look shows it just might.
Specifications are still awaiting announcement for the UK. However, we know the Renault 4 E-Tech will come in a couple of great powertrain options. The 52kWh battery comes with a 150hp motor offering up to 150 miles on a full charge. It’s also capable of charging from 15% to 80% in just 30 minutes. The smaller 40kWh battery and a 120hp motor still gives up to 186 miles to a charge.
Keeping subtle but noticeable nods to its namesake, the Renault 4 E-Tech manages to blend old and new seamlessly. The first noticeable feature is its grille. Made as a single 1.45m piece, the illuminated style brings the 1960s originated design bang up to date.
Rear three-piece lights, which the original Renault 4 was known for, are a welcome sight. This time with modern lines and Renault’s new LED signature.
A canvas roof classically known as ‘Plein Sud’, is now opened by the touch of a button or even by voice control.
There’s even an exclusive new colour for the Renault 4 E-Tech: Hauts-de-France Green. This is a subtle hat tip to the classic 1960s Ile-de-France Blue. Also available are the familiar colours of the Renault range. These include Glacier White, Urban Grey, Diamond Black, Carmine Red, Terracotta Brown, and Cloud Blue.
The Renault 4 E-Tech comes with plenty of up-to-date modernisms. Dual horizonal screens welcome you into the cabin. While a generous 10-inch multimedia screen provides access to a range of in-built Google services.
A virtual travelling companion, Reno, assists with scheduling charging amongst other helpful functions. Reno keeps tabs on the performance of the Renault 4 E-Tech, all in aid of making your ownership even easier.
Boot space starts off at 420 litres, accessible from a powered tailgate. There are plenty of cubby areas and storage hooks and also lashing hooks for larger items. There are no concerns about using up this valuable space for a charging cable either. With a dedicated 35-litre underfloor area for just this purpose.
